A Prayer

“….you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses….to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Come Holy Spirit, and baptise me with the fire of Your Love.

I empty myself and surrender as best I can.
Letting go of my desire to be useful, good, and right.
Letting go of my fears that I will never be enough.

And now I want to be filled with Your Spirit.
I need Your presence in my life.
Please come, and fill me now.

Lord, I believe that when I surrendered to You, we became one.
You are the vine and I am a branch.
My life flows from You.
All that You are is within me.

I believe that as I open to your presence God and ask,
You will release Your strength, wisdom, healing, to meet the needs of my life.

I pause now, open my hands and receive the gifts you long to give me today;
wisdom and understanding, counsel and strength, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment
– all wrapped in the greatest gift of all, love.

Only in Your power, guided by Your Spirit, can my life be fruitful.

Holy Spirit come.
Fill me with the fire of Your love.
Come Holy Spirit.  Come.

[Pause – for as long as you need in God’s presence. When you’re ready, you might end with thanks.]

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for Your presence with me, flowing freely in me and through me.  Thank you for being my friend, my teacher, my comforter, my counselor, my intercessor, and the giver of extravagant gifts.

As I go, your presence goes with me.
