Food Relief

Every three weeks our church offers food pickup days for those who are in need during the covid-19 crisis, particularly the Latin American student community.

Our next food drive day is: Friday 30 October

The address is 115 Kerferd Road, Albert Park.

Each person must book a pickup time, to ensure the people arriving are spread across the afternoon and we can keep our distance. The signup sheet will be provided here in the week before the next food drive day. Please check back.

Volunteer with us:

Our food relief program doesn’t happen without the hard work and dedication of our volunteer team. We welcome volunteers from both the church, Latin American and local community. If you would like to volunteer for our next food day please sign up here.

So far we have provided 559 food hampers, plus many more prepared meals. If you would like to financially support this food drive, please contact Kat for details.

FAQ:

Can I travel out of my 5km for food pick up?

Yes, the Stay At Home Directions allow you to leave home to attend a place of worship if the place of worship is operating an essential public support service, including a food bank.

Can I choose what products I get?

On the day we will have a range of products from fresh items and frozen meals to household products. We are now moving to a new ‘marketplace’ set up which will allow you to shop from the products you need.

How do I sign up?

We provide a sign-up sheet the week before each event. You can check back on this webpage for the link or contact us, to be added to the WhatsApp group

What if I miss out on a place?

If you miss out on a place, you can put your name on the waiting list. We often have leftovers and will contact you if we have supplies.

What do I bring?

Please bring grocery bags or a trolly, expect to collect at least 3 bags worth of groceries. You are also required to wear a mask when picking up your food.

I can’t make it to the day but I’m in desperate need of supplies.

We have a selection of frozen meals and non-perishable items available at all time. We are always happy to provide what we can, contact Kat.mattila@albertpark.org.au to organise pick up.
