The Bible teaches we are blessed not just so we can feel good, not just so we can be happy and comfortable, but so we will bless others.
God told Abraham in Genesis 12:2, “I will bless you … and you will be a blessing”. This captures an essential part of the character of God – that God is a God who blesses. But it also captures an essential part of who God created us to be, we are to be a people of blessing.
God intends that God’s blessing flows outward to others through us.
Our ability of be a blessing isn’t contingent upon our bank accounts, connections, education, or our age and stage of life. It’s dependent on the extent to which we’ve received God’s blessing.
The most generous people are those who have truly understood how much God has blessed them. From out of this understanding flows a river of blessing and generosity what wells up into a spring of eternal life. For as Jesus said, ‘the measure you give will be the measure you get back.” (Luke 6: 38)
But how do you bless others? By serving a need, whether it is physical or emotional support, financial help, or practical advice. Put it this way, where ever you see a need you are staring straight at an opportunity to bless someone.
We believe one of the most significant signs of the health of Albert Park Baptist Church is the extent to which we are committed to blessing others. By others we mean one another, our neighbours and the world.
God’s Big Hearted Mission
During September we’re exploring God’s Big Hearted Mission in the world. We will not only hear sermons which are focused on this theme, but also we will profile four organisations and missionaries we want to continue to support.
They are: 1,000 Villages; Julie McKay at Wycliffe Bible Translators; The O people in NEA; and the JO Fraser Centre in Thailand.
How to Get Involved
Donate to the Big Hearted Mission Campaign
Each year, outside of our regular giving and the Church budget, we raise money to support these four organisations involved in mission overseas.
You can donate to our Big Hearted Mission Campaign in three difference ways.
This link will take you to a secure site where you can input your credit card details. We will process your transaction during the week in the church office. After we’ve processed it, we will then send you a transaction confirmation email for your records. Please note, donations are not tax deductible.
